Nikon Coolpix S1100pj projector camera

Nikon’s new S1100pj hybrid Point & Shoot Camera is back, its now much Thinner and sleeker. The S1100pj now has a brighter projector with a light output of 14 lumens. The sensor is now upgraded to 14.1- megapixel (CCD), zoom upto 5x with a Wide-angle Optical Zoom NIKKOR Glass Lens (28-140mm), a 3-inch Touch Clear Color Display, a HD Movie mode, a 5-way VR Image stabilization system, and an ISO range up to 6400.

Rest of the camera has the usual Nikon features as the smile timer, Face-priority AF, the Blink Proof, Scene Mode (17), etc.
Regarding, the projector part, it provides an image size from 5 to 47 inch (from 26cm to 2.4m), the battery lasts for a span of an hour.

Priced at $349 or ~INR 18k, its a steal.

Fujifilm Finepix Real 3D W3 camera

Fujifilm’s latest FinePix Real 3D W3 camera is the second generation of 3D point and shoot cameras in the market and they seem to have gotten it right this time around.

It looks amazingly similar to the W1, the W3 however comes with a newly develop RP (Real Photo) Processor 3D HD image engine, capable to not only offer better 3D photo by reducing “Crosstlak” or the 3D ghost effect but also capable to handle 3D HD Video. One of the major update here is that the W3 is capable to record 720p 3D video. This will be the core highlight of this camera. The W3 also comes with a new bigger 3.5” wide 3D LCD screen capable of playing 3D video.

The W3 is compatible with 3D TVs and Video projectors. Loaded with a HDMI out port it lets you connect it directly to a TV or a PC equipped with a 3D LCD. The W3 also comes with many new features in order to better enjoy 3D shots, like the quite interesting “Interval 3D Shooting” mode made for shooting 3D pictures from fast moving object like cars, trains or even airplanes.

The FinePix Real 3D W3 comes with a 10Megapixel OCD sensor, a 3x optical Zoom and an ISO range going form ISO 100 to 1600.

Canon’s new S95, SD4500, and the Affordable SX130 IS

Canon is launching a range of new point and shoot cameras in the market, the S95, a 720p-shooting update of the older S90; the SX130 IS, an ultra zoom camera; and the SD4500, a 1080p capable point-and-shoot with 10x optical zoom.

The PowerShot S95 is an incremental update to the point-and-shoot favorite, the S90. It brings the 720p HD video people have long been clamoring for, as well as an in-camera HDR mode for easily creating those vibrant, eyeball-popping shots.
The S95 is also the first PowerShot to get Canon’s Hybrid IS image stabilization system.

The PowerShot SX130 IS brings 12x optical zoom (28-336mm), as well as optical image stabilization, at the nice price of $250. The SX130 has a 3″ LCD screen and shoots 720p video. The SX series are mega-zoom variants of canon. For still shots, it has four new creative modes: fisheye, poster, super vivid, and miniature.

The SD4500, again an upgrade to the older low-light friendly SD4000, has a backlit CMOS censor, impressive 10x optical zoom and shoots full 1080p HD video. A super slow-mo mode can capture video at 240fps, and a burst mode shoots stills at up to 8.4fps.

The S95 will cost ~$400, i.e. INR 20-22k, The SX130 will be available for $250 or ~INR 13k and the SD4500 for $350 or INR 17-18k

Nikon D3100 SLR – Sneak peak

The news is all over the place and Nikon’s new Camera’s out in the market. The D3100 is said will feature a 14MP CMOS sensor, a 3-inch display, Live View, 11-point AF, feature full 1080p HD video recording, and an ISO rating between 100 and 12,800.

What is set to keep it standing out in the market is the continuous auto focus feature, which comes in handy during video shoots.

Casio’s New EX-S200 and EX-Z800 feature ‘super resolution’ zoom

Casio is all set to launch the EX-S200 and EX-Z800 point-and-shoot cams with ‘super resolution’ zoom capabilities. Both the Casio EX-S200 (pictured) and the EX-Z800 are have 14.1 megapixel sensors with 720p video recording and 4x optical zoom, as well as the Exilim Engine 5.0 processing the company introduced this year and the supposedly fire-and-forget Premium Auto mode. The S200 is slightly thinner than the EX-z800, has an autofocus assist lamp and an instant-on Quick Mode. The Z800 is slightly lighter and shorter in both directions.

Engadget claims the “super resolution zoom” is just marketing speak for a 6x digital zoom plus algorithms that will hopefully reduce image degradation.

We just spotted Panasonic’s pocket sized video camcorder. The trend for Pocket HD camcorders is on and now Samsung has “The” solution for you with their new compact camcorder, the HMX-E10. With its 8Mpix sensor, the HMX-E10 shoots video in 1920×1080 in H.264, comes with a 270° Swiveling Lens too.

Panasonic pocket camcorder

Its a new era of digital cameras with 1080p capability. They are all going pocket size. Panasonic in a special evening launch trotted out two camcorders, one of which is a first for the entire company. The HM-TA1 is its venture into the Flip’s home territory and immediately claims an edge with full-speed 1080p video. The mobile phone sized camera is unique in the class as it supports Apple’s iFrame encoding: it can output its video to iMovie at 540p without having to resize until the final export.

The camera can also snap eight-megapixel photos or pluck individual frames from videos. It similarly wields a rare LED light for dark scenes and uses removable cards, up to and including SDXC. Electronic image stabilization and basic color presets produce more of the intended shot, and the camera can double as a webcam for live video in apps that support it.

Gray, purple and red versions of the TA1 will ship in August for $170 or Appx INR 9,000

Panasonic’s also has the new HDC-SDX1, looks really traditional with barrel-shaped body but is extremely light at about 0.41 pounds.

This one too records at 1080p and supports iFrame, but it obviously has a lens that zooms up to 20X with optical zoom and 23X when adding a small amount of digital zoom. The camera has true optical image stabilization and has more advanced tricks such as autofocus and autoexposure tracking. A 2.7-inch touchscreen serves as the main interface.

The SDX1 will be available in September for $500 or ~INR 25,000

Panasonic’s HDC-SDT750, Make 3D movies at home!

Panasonic’s always maintained thier market share in video recording and may continue to do so. Panasonic may soon launch an affordable stereoscopic 3D camcorder called the HDC-SDT750. It is indeed quite possibly the “World’s first 3D Shooting Camcorder.”

The SDT750 will shoot in 1080p AVCHD at 60fps, feature Panasonics’s proprietary Hybrid O.I.S. image stabilization technology, and come in a lovely shade of Henry Ford black.

Samsungs new ST100 and ST600 with dual screens

Dual screen cameras! No one really knows whether this concept will kick off well in the market. But Samsung ST100 and ST600 cams take DualView screens to the next level. Samsung continues to lead the field of cameras with front-facing screens — it’s bringing its total count of DualView cameras to six with the new flagship ST100 (pictured) and ST600.

The new ST series with 1.8-inch front screen, both cams feature the same 14.2 megapixel sensor with ISO 3200 sensitivity, a 3.5-inch rear display, and a new “jump shot” mode that uses the front screen to cue a group of people to jump and then fires off three quick snaps to capture the action. They are also equipped to shoot in 720p.

A gesture-driven touchscreen interface, and smart face recognition that can recognize up to six manually chosen people and 14 automatically registered people. The big difference between the two models is the lens, a pop out 5x wide angle optical zoom lens, on the ST600 and ST100 slims things down with a new 5x internal optical zoom

Pricing : $329 or ~INR 16.5K for the ST600, and $349 may be ~INR 18K for the ST100

Panasonic Lumix LX5: Nearly perfect!

First it was the Panasonic Lumix LX3 a super point-and-shoot that gave incredible photos. The new LX5 is here and might knock the Canon S90.

It still features a 10-megapixel CCD sensor—the improvements focus on boosting dynamic range and low-light performance—while adding a new Leica Lens and a revamped image processing engine. The LX5 has an F2.0, 24mm Leica lens and 3.8x optical zoom. Video maxes out at 720p, but it’ll look awesome on the new screen—which uses a high color rendering index backlight LED for better color reproduction and visibility in sunlight.

In addition to the new insides, the LX5 has some improved features over the LX3, too, including more advanced image stabilization, creative movie mode, and face recognition. A new jog wheel, new colors, Black and White.
