Olympus has launched new set of cameras with superior shockproof and waterproof technologies. The Olympus’ µTOUGH-8010 and µTOUGH-6020 are survivors, engadget has even termed them Crushproof. They are really tough. Some of their core specs are given below,

Both the 8010 and 6020 have 14-megapixel sensors and 5x optical zooms, and a 2.7-inch LCD screen, can shoot in 720p resolution, and the 8010 comes with 2GB of internal storage.

Olympus PEN E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds

They are finally gaining interest levels in the market, thanks to the dipping prices. Micro four thirds in case you don’t know are cameras that perform equally as DSLR’s but are much much smaller. This concept was created and developed by Olympus and Panasonic.

After the launch of the first micro four third camera the E-P1, the E-PL1 is a significant upgrade to the former model.Firstly it is $200 cheaper than the E-P1, has an inbuilt flash, packs in the same 12.3-megapixel sensor and 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens.

- 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens
- Inbuilt pop-up flash
- HD video recording (though as what resolution, Olympus hasn’t said).

Olympus Stylus Tough 3000

Exactly identical to their previous model, the Stylus Tough 6000, has the same TruePic 3 sensor, same ruggedness which means it is waterproof up to 10 ft, shockproof up to 5 ft, has a 12mp sensor.

What Olympus has done is add the 720 p video recording ability in the Tough 3000.

The camera will cost $230 or INR 11,500, making it a reasonable buy in the Point and Shoot range of cameras.
