Sony’s impressive high-end headphones – MDR-Z1000, MDR-ZX700, MDR-ZX500 and the MDR-ZX300

Sony had launched their new range of headphones.The MDR-Z1000, MDR-ZX700, MDR-ZX500 and the MDR-ZX300. They are mostly High power and have good frequency responses.

The MDR-Z1000, the biggest of the lot, features 360KJ/m3 High power neodymium magnet dedicated to reproduce clear and high resolution midrange, as well as removable Jack Cable. It provides an impressive frequency response of 5Hz – 80 000Hz, with an impedance of 24 Ohms, and a sensitivity of 106dB/mW. According to Sony, the MDR-Z1000 adopts nice ear pad that promises perfect noise isolation. Beside this MDR-Z1000, Sony also added to their catalog the ZX700 model that features Magnesium-Aluminum case. It provides a frequency response of 5Hz – 40 000Hz, with a sensitivity of 106dB/mW, an impedance of 24 Ohms. They respectively cost $735 and $145

MDR ZX

The MDR-ZX500, comes with 40mm driver. Here again, we have a 360KJ/m3 High power neodymium magnet. Available in Black or White, it offers a frequency response of 8Hz – 25 000Hz, as well as 104dB/mW sensitivity, an impedance of 70 Ohms.

The MDR-ZX300 adopts 360KJ/m3 Neodymium magnet and provides a frequency response of 10Hz – 24 000Hz, with a sensitivity of 102dB/mW, and an impedance of 24 Ohms Costs $45, while the MDR-ZX100 offers a frequency response of 12Hz – 22 000Hz, a sensitivity of 100 dB/mW, and an impedance of 24Ohms will set you back by $29

Onkyo Introduces Flagship THX-Certified AV Component

Onkyo is now expanding its product line to include upscale separate components. With its announcement today of three new THX Certified components, Onkyo is now offering the higher levels of performance, quality, and capabilities typical of separates. These new products include Onkyo’s first A/V preamplifier/processor that is both 3D-Ready and THX-Certified, a powerful 150-watt nine-channel amplifier, and a full-featured Blu-ray Disc Player.

Onkyo’s flagship PR-SC5508 is a THX-Ultra 2 Plus certified, network-capable, 9.2-channel audio-video controller will function as the brains of the worlds most advanced in-home home theater systems. It has a 3D-Ready HDMI-1.4a interface, HQV Reon-VX video processing, ISF Video Calibration, and a long list of top-of-the line audio and video features unmatched in other products.

The networking features offer DLNA 1.5 and Windows 7 compatible connection to PC audio and internet radio. The system is configured for Pandora, Rhapsody, Mediafly, Slacker, Napster, VTuner, and Sirius Internet Radio. The PR-SC5508′s component circuitry is at the far edge of the technology envelope, both in terms of sound and video quality and processing. Superior video performance comes in the form of HQV Reon-VX processing, 1080p upscaling, and individual ISF calibration capability for all video sources. This THX-Ultra 2 Plus certified system offers exceptional surround sound, height channels, setup calibration, and state of the art processing from Dolby, THX, DTS, and Audyssey, including the latter’s new MultEQ XT 32. The PR-SC5508′s extensive connectivity options includes 8 HDMI inputs, dual USB’s, two balanced line-level XLR audio inputs, and nine XLR preamp outputs to drive the matching PA-MC5500 nine-channel power amplifier.

The Onkyo PA-MC5500 is a powerful nine-channel THX-Ultra2 Plus certified analog power amplifier that is 8-ohm rated at 150 Watts per channel, and up to 400 Watts dynamic power into 3 ohms. It utilizes Onkyo’s exclusive WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) design philosophy, which proscribes low negative feedback, low distortion, extended frequency response, and a power supply with high instantaneous-current capability. To achieve all this, the PA-MC5500 uses large, custom output transistors in push-pull configuration and massive power supply consisting of a large toroidal power transformer and two 22,000 µF storage capacitors. Despite all this power, the PA-MC5500 preserves the subtle details of the sound with a three-stage inverted Darlington circuit to remove distortion and the use of professional balanced line-level XLR inputs for the optimal interface with its ideal companion, the Onkyo PR-SC5508. The 51-lb PA-MC5500 has a rigid, anti-resonant chassis, gold-plated inputs and outputs, plus multi-zone and bi-amp capability to allow full utilization of all channels no mater what the system configuration.

The Onkyo BD-SP808 is a THX Certified and DLNA 1.5 Certified Blu-ray Disc Player with a full array of state of the art technology, including Video On Demand, premium Marvel Qdeo™ video scaler, and studio-master quality Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ sound. Its superior build quality provides a robust and versatile playback solution for Blu-ray, DVD, and CD. Harmful vibrations are minimized thanks to the highly rigid chassis construction and a balanced, center-mounted drive mechanism. An Ethernet port enables interactive Profile 2.0 BD-Live features such as picture-in-picture and web-sourced firmware updates. An SD card slot allows playback of downloaded web content or stills and video from a digital camera. In HDMI Source Direct mode, the player can output the video signal in its native resolution for optional external processing.

These products will begin shipping to dealers in September. The PR-SC5508 will have a suggested retail price of $2,199, the PA-MC5500 will be $1,699, and the BD-SP808 will have a suggest retail price of $599.

Philips 21:9 Platinum HDTV takes you to a new Dimension

The 16:9 Aspect ratio is something that looked perfect on all TVs and Monitors, atleast that is how it was. It’s kind of hard to outdo yourself with only two dimensions when they read 21 and 9, respectively, so Philips has decided to do the only thing left for a trendy display maker: go 3D.

It is still a 3D prototype a brand new 58-inch Cinema 21:9 Platinum HDTV looks set to bring the third dimension to actual retail.

It’s got the Ambilight wall illumination that some people will like, LED backlighting with local dimming that most should love, and a slimmer, brushed matte bezel that will be appreciated by all.

The 400Hz panel is capable of pumping out Full HD 3D and is expected to cost around $5,112 in Europe.

3D Projector from Sony can Fake it!

At the IFA electronics show, Sony showcased its new VPL-VW90ES Projector. This happens to be Sony’s first shot at making a home 3D projector. Some of its interesting abilities include the ability to convert 2D images to 3D which means you can actually watch older 2D Content in 3D, and they claimed it means “bringing new life to classic movies from the past”

The specs are impressive. Incorporating Sony’s Advanced Iris 3 technology, the 3D cyclops offers a dynamic contrast ratio of 150,000:1 while pushing out Full HD 3D at the high-def 1080p standard.

If you thought your existing iPod touch was thin, think again, the new iPod touch is pretty much thinner. Apple has reloaded the iTouch to include the Retina Display from the iPhone 4, an Apple A4 core, 3-axis gyroscope, Game Center, and FaceTime support with the addition of a front cam.

Now the new Touch can also double up as a Camera, yes!, it’s also got a rear cam capable of HD video.

This will be Apples 6th generation iPod nano, which has been outfitted with just about the boldest redesign the portable media player has experienced yet. Yes there are no buttons, all of it is now replaced with a touchscreen interface and a shuffle-esque square form factor. It’s now 46 percent smaller and 42 percent lighter. The screen is multitouch compliant and it does have a few volume buttons on the side and a clip on the back. Some of the other good stuff you get is that the Nano will now provide you with 24 hours of audio playback with a single charge.

It will be available in Seven total color variants. Bad news is that the new nano will no longer have a camera or video playback (for now)

LG Going Nano – LEX8

No its not the future, it is already here and soon to be commercialized by LG. LG claims its upcoming LEX8 adds “NANO Lighting Technology” to its new top-end LED backlit TV model, the LG LEX8.

LG’s press release doesn’t go into any hardcore technical detail about how this makes its standard LED backlighting any better, simply claiming the new set produces “brighter, clearer and smoother” pictures. The end result is a TV only .88cm thick, which is 0.34 of a standard imperial inch. LG may be using smaller and more powerful LEDs to achieve this since the LEX8 measures just 88mm and has a 1.25 cm bezel making it the slimmest and narrowest ‘Full LED TV’ (not edge lit) in the world once it’s unveiled at IFA. Amongst other things, it supports local dimming LEDs for deeper blacks and will have 400Hz TruMotion for that eye-popping 3D visuals. No details on pricing or availability.

Logitech Z623 speakers – THX certified

As always, Logitech’s speakers are known for their powerful subwoofers. Same is the case with their latest THX-certified speaker system, the Z623. The new system delivers 200W of sustained power across its satellites and subwoofer. Designed for use with PCs, TVs, consoles and digital music players, the new system is also easier to operate on a desktop than past models with the controls and ports built into the right speaker. So there is no additional wired remote. This could mean you would have to place the speakers close to your Desktop or TV.

It includes inputs and cables to allow up to three devices to connect to the system. In addition to the 3.5mm input and headphone jack on the right speaker, it includes an RCA input on the rear of the subwoofer. The Z623 is expected to be available in September for an official $150 or INR 8,000.

Nikon’s new S1100pj hybrid Point & Shoot Camera is back, its now much Thinner and sleeker. The S1100pj now has a brighter projector with a light output of 14 lumens. The sensor is now upgraded to 14.1- megapixel (CCD), zoom upto 5x with a Wide-angle Optical Zoom NIKKOR Glass Lens (28-140mm), a 3-inch Touch Clear Color Display, a HD Movie mode, a 5-way VR Image stabilization system, and an ISO range up to 6400.
