It supposedly features higher performance compared to HDMI with the ability to support 10.8 Gbps with a 6-foot cable and and can also support monitors and multiples of them with resolutions up to 2560×1600, the HDMI cables performance rating at 6 feet is just 400 Mbps, making it unsuitable for longer distances. HDMI lacks latching capabilities to your equipments, whereas the DisplayPort features latching connectors which is vital for surveillance and other critical systems where keeping the cables connected at all times is an absolute must.
