It has finally managed to reach the testing stage. Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner has successfully managed its maiden flight. The plane, apparently 2 years late, will now be on rigorous testing procedures before being declared safe for commercial use.

What is so special about the 787? Well, the 787 is the first plane to be built with a plastic fuselage and an all-electric system. All this transcends into a lighter aircraft which offers better fuel economy. The plane is also the first to be compatible with a GE or a Rolls Royce engine (Jet engine makers). What is more, the engines on the 787 will have special nacelles (more like a silencer) that will make it much quieter than existing planes.
